With multiple sites in Shalford, Dunsfold, Warwick and a new purpose-built HQ on its way in Windlesham, the Gordon Murray Group continues to grow with multiple vehicle programmes currently in development. As a result, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Homologation to join our Homologation Team based in Shalford.
Principal Accountabilities:
You will be responsible for the planning and coordination of the Whole Vehicle Type Approval (WVTA) process including emission and safety certification including interaction with relevant stakeholders including product management, engineering and relevant agencies. You will be responsible for delivering compliance policies, procedures, plans, and guidelines to ensure that both governmental and industry regulations and standards are met.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
In this position, your key responsibilities will be to secure Vehicle Certification in worldwide markets including EU and USA. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following:
- Active role in both the planning and execution of the vehicle certification process
- ‘Point of contact’ in all discussions with UK, EU and USA regulatory authorities
- Liaison with Tier 1 and 2 powertrain suppliers and provision of vehicle information as requested
- Identify applicable regulations, necessary testing, prepare applications, & coordinate tests with external labs, vendors, & internal resources to ensure full certifications & compliance. On-site support at Test Facilities during periods of testing will be required (UK based)
- Organize & support documentation related to regulatory certifications
- Build and develop a high performing team
- Work with teams to ensure our products & processes meet evolving & applicable regulations
- Track & understand the regulatory environment
- Facilitate discussions of legislative changes that might affect existing & new vehicle programmes
- Interpretation of regulatory requirements for other market territories i.e. Japan & USA
- Clearly communicate changes to regulatory requirements within the organisation and Tier1 suppliers
- Participate in design reviews, provide regulatory input to development teams, and provide engineering analysis to policy and business groups
- Suggest solutions for compliance issues affecting the vehicle design
Miscellaneous Requirements:
- Engineering or Policy degree or equivalent experience
- Considerable industry experience in an automotive or related regulated field
- Appropriate and related experience in evaluating regulatory compliance
- Timing and planning of automotive vehicle certification programmes
- Working with regulatory & certification entities such as DOT/ NHTSA, EPA, and CARB
- Small Series Type Approval (SSTA) regulations including ‘Show & Display’ requirements for sales of vehicles in USA
- Working with Test Facilities i.e. Millbrook, IDIADA etc
- Writing technical documents, coordinating compliance testing with independent labs & certification agencies
Technical background in mechanical testing, electronics, and verifying safety & compliance
